About Barcelona
Situated at the seaside and capital of Catalonia,
Barcelona is the second biggest city in Spain
after Madrid in terms of both population and
size. The comfortable sub-mediteranean climate
also ensure comfortable temperature all year
round, with lowest average temperatures at around
9 degree celcius between December to February
and highest average temperatures at 24 degree
celsius between July and August.
After a wave of Catalan Modernisme or Art Nouveau
style hit Barcelona in the late 19th century and early
20th century, buildings designed by modernisme influenced
architects sprung up all over Barcelona. Antonio
Gaudi emerged to become one of the most influential
architects and his works have left lasting impressions
all over the city.
Rich in culture and blessed with sunlight all year
round, Barcelona city has emerged to become one of
Europe's top tourist destinations.
