Barcelona Attractions
Barcelona is divided into a few major districts with
Placa de
Catalunya forming the center of the city. The
famous Las
Ramblas street stretches south of it with the
Barri Gotic district and La Raval district on the
sides of the street while the shopping street Passeig
de Gracia stretches north of Placa de Catalunya
in the Eixample district.
Located near the Las
Ramblas is the La
Boqueria and Teatre
Del Liceu. Upon reaching the end of Las Ramblas,
one can see the Museu
Maritim and Colombus
Monument. Those interested can check out Barcelona
Beach or the Barcelona
Marina near the end of Las Ramblas. Port Vell
at Barcelona Marina houses the Museu
Historia Catalunya, L
Aquarium and the Maremagnum
Barri Gotic
district attractions consist of the Cathedral,
El Call, Museu
Historia and some of the streets that form the
medieval center of Barcelona.
Slightly east of the Barri Gotic district is the
La Ribera district which has the Basilica
de Santa Maria del Mar, Palau
Musica Catalana and Museum
Picasso. Located nearby is the Parc
de la Ciutadella which houses the Barcelona
Zoo. Check out the Arc
de Triomf which looks like the Arc de Triomphe
in Paris
Moving off north of the center of the city in Eixample
are some of Antonio
Gaudi's works - the La Sagrada
Familia, Casa
Mila and Casa
Batllo as well as other modenisme works such as
the Hospital
Sant Pau.
Venture off deeper into the city to visit Park
Guell in the Gracia district or Torre
Agbar in the Sant Marti district. In addition,
do pay a visit to one of the most famous football
club in the world, F.C. Barcelona at Camp
Nou.
To get fantastic views of the city landscape, do
not miss Castell
Montjuic at the top of Montjuic
hill or the amusement park at the top of Tibidabo
hill. From both of these places, you can have a fine
overview of the whole Barcelona city and visit a large
number of other attractions. Visit Cosmocaixa
Museu Ciencia near Tibidabo if you have time as
it is one of the best museum in Barcelona.
The attractions on Montjuic are mainly around Avinguda
de la Reina Maria Cristina, an avenue stretching from
Placa d'Espanya
to the Museu Nacional
d'Art de Catalunya at Palau Nacional. They include
the Barcelona
Caixa Forum, Barcelona
Pavilion, Font
Magica and Pueblo
Español. Other attractions on Montjuic
include Barcelona
Olympic Ring, Fundacio
Joan Miro and Sala
Montjuic Cinema. The most exciting way to get
to Montjuic is by Teleferico
Montjuic.
To visit most of the attactions in a short span of
time, it is encouraged for visitors to purchase the
Barcelona
Bus Turistic which brings visitors to most attractions.
Together with the ticket, there are also many useful
discount vouchers for the above mentioned attractions.
