Barcelona Marina
Barcelona have 2 major ports - Port Vell (old port)
and Port Olimpic (olympic port). Both marinas are
scenes of bustling activities with restaurants, cafes,
pubs and discos plentiful around the area. Situated
in between the 2 ports is an area La Barceloneta where
there are great beaches to go to.
A redevelopement of the area in Port Vell resulted
in a new shopping center, the Maremagnum
and one of Europe's largest aquarium, the L'Aquarium.
Movie theaters in the Maremagnum include an IMAX theater.
There is also a Catalonia History Museum, Museu
Historia Catalunya located at Port Vell.
Port Olympic was redeveloped for the 1992 Olympics
held in Barcelona, resulting in a vibrant waterfront
area for entertainment and shopping. There is a giant
copper fish sculpture Peix by Frank Ghery located
near Hotel Arts and the Mapfre tower, Barcelona's
tallest skyscrapers.
