Castell de Montjuic
Located at the peak of Mount Montjic,
Castell de Montjuic (Montjuic Castle) is actually
a 18th century fortress that was built to defend the
city but often used for invasion of the city instead.
The fort was later used to house and oppress political
prisoners. Many political prisoners were executed
there in the past. Castell de Montjuic offers a paranomic
view over the city as well as Barcelona ports.
The Military Museum is located at the fort and contains
military equipments and weapons from different periods.
It costs 2.50 Euros to enter the museum and opens
at 9.30 a.m. daily. It closes at 5.30 p.m. from November
to March and 8 p.m. from March to October.
Those interested in watching a movie in open air
on Monjuic in the summer can do so at Sala
Montjuic Cinema.
Jardi Botanic de Barcelona (Barcelona Botanic Garden)
is a garden featuring more than 2000 plants from the
mediteranean climate and is located near Castell Montjuic
Castell de Montjuic and the Military Museum can be
reached via many different ways but the most exciting
way to reach there will be via Teleferico
