Monument a Colom
Monument a Colom (catalan) or Monumento Colon (spanish)
is the monument built to commemorate Christopher Colombus
achievement of making the famous voyage to the new
world and to remind us that Barcelona is where Christopher
Colombus reported to the Queen and King after returning
from his voyage. The monument was constructed on the
same site where Colombus return from his voyage in
1888.
The monument is situated at the end of Las
Ramblas and near Port Vell. Drop off at Drassanes
metro station and walk a short distance to reach the
monument. Take a small lift to the top of the monument
for a gorgeous view of the port and Las Ramblas. The
fee is 2.20 Euros and opening times are from 10 a.m.
to 6.30 p.m. in October to May and 9 a.m. to 8.30
p.m. in June to September.
