Las Ramblas
Las Ramblas is Barcelona's main artery and is a street
that is bursting with fun and activities. Also known
as La Rambla, expensive cafes and restaurants lined
the sides of the 1.2 km street while street artists
and stall vendors show off their craft and skills.

fascinating street artists.
The street is very popular with tourists due to its
reputation and its close proximity with many of Barcelona's
attractions. Stretching south from the city center
Placa de
Catalunya, one can visit the Barri
Gotic district (Barcelona medieval town), Mercat
de la Boqueria (Barcelona bustling market), Gran
Teatro del Liceu (Barcelona's city opera house),
Centre d'Art Santa Monica (A contemporary art venue),
Placa Reial (A beautiful square complete with Gaudi
designed lamposts and cosy cafes) and finally end
up at Monument
a Colom (Monument for Christopher Colombus) and
Museu Maritim
(Maritime Museum). Those interested in a good sea
breeze can walk to the nearby Port Vell where there
is a large shopping center, the Maremagnum,
a large aquarium, L'Aquarium
and Museu
Historia Catalunya (Catalonia History Museum).
Las Ramblas is also a very popular spot for pickpockets
or even robbers to strike. Tourists are advised to
keep their wallets and purses in safe places.
It is possible to reach Las Ramblas through the metro
stations Catalunya, Liceu or Drassanes.
