Guesthouse Unversiteit Maastricht At Brouwersweg

Paying a rate of 11.75 Euros/night at the guesthouse is one of the most satisfactory things to happen in Maasgtricht so far. The room is like wow.. spacious.. It helps that our room is slightly longer then other rooms. Fully furnished with a stove, fridge (thank god or we will be starving), television, shelves and cupboard, it has everything we need.

After the pleasnt surprise at the guesthouse, we went back to reality and was often found wandering lost in the streets of Maastricht. The endless roundabouts and rows of identical tidy European houses lying on both sides of every street we went made deciphering the Maastricht map almost impossible. It did not help that the first time we wander around trying to buy groceries, we totally did not even think of bringing the map of Maastricht. We ended up walking around aimlessly feeling tired and drained. Eventually, we got back, wishing that we can get a bicycle to get around.

On our next adventure in trying to make our way around, we got lost for some time before finally making our way to the city centre. We made our way across the famous Maastricht Bridge which is of stratergic importance in defending Maastricht against enemies in the ancient past. After another few twist and turns around the streets across the bridge, we finally found an old man that sells bicycles in the black market. It is the cheapest way to get a bicycle here at 25 Euros and we found oursleves staring at two old and wretched racers. It provided plenty of butt-aches and complaints in the coming days.

Well equipped with a map and a bicycle, we got lost again (whats new)... This time, it is mostly due to our inability to follow the maps (hard to believe both of us drive in Singapore) and the number of one way streets which our bicycles couldn't enter. The cycle back to the guesthouse was also treacherous as the cold wind and rain forced us to stop before continuing. After reaching the guesthouse at the end of the day, we decide that walking would have been so much better and wanted to get rid of our bicycles.

After the many complaints and disasters that have fallen on us, we at least manage to buy lots of groceries which will put us in good steed for the future. Retail-therapy in the form of shopping for groceries was our only relieve and for once, we know how it feels to be an auntie shopping around happily for groceries....

One of the pictures of the guesthouse. Looks absolutely magnificant doesnt it?

Even the plants look nice here...

T ake a closer look..

Our pad...

No harm having more photos to show you how proud we are of it.
Check out the cooler which Chris was so eager to buy despite the fact that it doesnt really cools the room.
Suspect it is more due to fact that it looks nice that Chris wanted it.

More guesthouse room photos.

An area in the room which I will famalirize myself very well in the coming months.

Fried noodles! My own creation with the limited seasoning we have. Looks a bit like sphagetti though

Fried rice by me after managing to buy the proper seasonings. Delicious!

For a first attempt at frying the chicken, it is pretty good! Taste as good as it looks!

Getting lost in the streets of Maastricht..

Yet another typical Maasticht street after turning the corner...

Taking a break after getting lost for hours....

The building that we know as the "castle" guided us back to the right track as it is near the guesthouse.

Turns our where we are (Blue dot) wasnt so far from where we stay after all (Red dot). God knows where we will end up on if we did not find this map.

The wretched bicycle that we wish we did not have.

Cotton candy? No... Clouds from Maastricht sky..

This time, its the sun... Why dont the sky look the same in Singapore...
