Museu d'Historia de
Catalunya
Situated at Port Vell in a 19th century Palau de
Mar (Sea Palace), the museum contains Catalan information
and exhibits about Catalonia from stone age to medieval
Catalonia under Rome and the Moors to Catalonia during
the Spanish civil war to present day Catalonia and
the bustling Barcelona city. This is an interactive
museum with visitors able to engage themselves with
activities such as picking up a crusader's sword,
hiding in a bomb shelter and siting in a 20th century
tram. In all, this museum tells you everything you
need to know about the history of Catalonia in a fun
and exciting way.
To reach the museum, alight at metro stations Drassanes
or Barceloneta and take a short walk to Port Vell.
Admission fees are 4 Euros and opening hours are 10
a.m. to 7 p.m. from tuesdays to saturdays except on
wednesdays which open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The museum
is also open from 10 a.m. to to 2.30 p.m. on sundays.
