Parc de la Ciutadella
Located on the east side of La Riberia and south
of Arc de
Triomf, Parc de la Ciutadella is a park notable
for the La Cascada Ciutadella, Barcelona
Zoo, the Museum of Natural Science and Catalonia's
Parliament building.
The La Cascada Ciutadella was built in the late 19th
century with the help of a young Antonio Gaudi for
the 1888 Universal Exhibition. The fine architecture
of the Cascada is complemented by a splendid fountain
and is easily the most noticeable and beautiful part
of the park.
The Museum of Natural Science was formed through
a merger of the Geology Museum and the Zoology Museum.
This new museum is currently housed at the former
venues of the museums at Castell dels Tres Dragons
(Three Dragons Castle) and a neoclassical building.
The museum now shows exhibits about nature with plenty
of speciments and plants on display. Entrance fee
is 3.70 Euros and opening hours are from 10 a.m. to
6.30 p.m. from tuesdays to saturdays and 10 a.m. to
2.30 p.m. on sundays
Parc de la Ciutadella is open from 10 a.m. to dusk
and is easily accessible by the metro stations Arc de Triomf or Ciutadella.
