Teleferico Montjuic
There are a couple of ways to reach Montjuic
to visit the attractions there. Different ways will
bring you to different parts of Montjuic.
To reach Castell
Montjuic, the most exciting way to do it is to
take the cable car at the beach from the cable towers
at the top of Jaume I Tower near the World Trade Center
at Barceloneta or the tower on Sant Sabestia beach.
The cable car is known as Transbordador Aeri del Port
and is often confused for the Teleferic de Montjuic.
The Transbordador Aeri del Port brings visitors from
the beach to Castell Montjuic while Teleferic de Montjuic
takes passengers from Estacio Funicular on Avenida
Miramar halfway up the mountain to the top of the
mountain.
From the cable car ride, a visitor can enjoy scenic
views of the beaches and Barcelona city. The cable
car opening time varies but is usually opened from
10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket prices are 7.50 Euros
for a one way and 9 Euros for a return ticket.
To reach Castell Montjuic by metro, take the funicular
railway from Parallel metro station. Some great views
of the city can be seen on the way. Prices are the
same for normal metro rides and one can use a T10
ticket.
To reach Montjuic by bus, one can take bus numbers
50, 55 or 61 or the Barcelona tourist bus (Barcelona
bus turistic).
Alternatively, if you prefer a hike up the hill,
drop off at Espanya metro station and walk to Placa
Espanya, a square at the foot of Mount Montjuic.
From there, climb the stairs to reach Palau Nacional
where there will be another series of stairs and roads
to reach the top of the hill. A hike up the hill will
take about an hour.
