Tibidabo
Tibidabo is a 512m hill overlooking Barcelona city
and its coastlines. Tibidabo is higher than Montjuic
hill and offer spectacular views of the city due to
its excellent location. On top of the hill, you can
find the Tibidabo Amusement Park (Parc d'Atraccions
Tibidabo), an iconic communcation tower (Torre de
Collserola) and a Catholic church, the Temple de Sagrat
Cor.
Parc d'Atraccions Tibidabo is a century year old
amusement park and have rides that are equally old.
Although some of the rides are old, they provide great
family entertainment. Admission ticket is 25 Euros
and the park is usually opened from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For those looking for a greater thrill, take the
glass elavator up Torre de Collserola to a a 360 degree
observatory. From there, you can take a good look
around the whole landscape in the region. The admission
price is 4.80 Euros and is opened from 11 a.m. to
2.30 p.m and 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. from wednesdays to
sundays.
The Temple de Sagrat Cor was modeled after the Sacre
Couer Basilica in Paris. There is a huge statue of
Christ mounted on top of the church.
To reach Tibidabo, catch the FGC (Ferrocarrils Catalans
Catalan Railways) and drop off at Tibidabo station.
From there, take the Tranvia Blau or Tibadabo Funicular
bus to a small square before taking the Funicular
del Tibidabo to Tibidabo. Another easier way is take
the Tibibius from Placa
Catalunya which takes you directly there. Fares
for transport are reimbursed when you hand the transport
ticket to the ticket office at Parc d'Atraccions Tibidabo.
