Travel Maastricht
The city is well connected to the rest of Europe
through its nearby Maastricht Aachen Airport. Most
importantly, there are flghts to and fro Amsterdam.
Other flights that are avaliable or to be avaliable
include Barcelona-Girona, Valencia, Alicante, Milan,
Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Faro, Malaga, Mallorca, Crete,
Kos, Rhodes and Antalya. The airport itself is a 20
to 30 minutes bus ride from Maastricht interchange
located near the city center.
The railway station is connected by railways to major
Dutch cities and to the Belgium city of Liege. From
Liege, it is possible to get to Brussels where the
rail network is further connected to Germany, France,
United Kingdom. Through Eurail or Eurorail, one can
take high speed trains taking them to major cities
in the above mentioned countries. Maastricht station
is approximately 3 hours distance from both Amsterdam
and Brussels.
It is possible to get to Maastricht by Bus from Liege,
Hasselt, Tongeren in Belgium and Aachen in Germany.
Bus services is also avaliable for most cities in
Limburg.
To reach Maastricht by car, take the A2 or A79 motorways.
Maastricht is approximately 2.5 hours drive away from
Amsterdam and 1 hour from Cologne (Germany) or Brussels
(Belgium).
Within Maastricht, it is possible to travel by the
various shuttle buses that go around Maastricht. However,
due to Maastricht's small city area, it is far easier
to go around by foot or by renting a bicycle.
